Injuries to children from burns
Yesterday at my son’s little league game it was my turn to work the concession stand; assignment operate the gas grill for the hamburgers and hot dogs. The smoke was bad enough, but my real concern was for the children that walked by the grill and within feet of danger. I’ll work on the placement of the grill with the league. However, for our purposes I wanted to point out several facts. 1) Burn injuries recieve medical treatment over 500,000 times per year. 2) There are over 25,000 hospital admissions each year for specialized care. 3) Burns can come from chemicals, scalding water, fire/flames, electrical mishaps as well as others. 4) almost 50% of these injuries occur in your homw where you would think you could avoid danger. Be aware of your surroundings and teach your children to repect these common dangers. We’ll all have a safe Spring and an enjoyable Summer. If you find yourself outside with a fire or grill use common sense and be careful for your kids sake.
